There is truly something spiritual in Shodo calligraphy, and the way brushstrokes melt in architecture, check the entrance of that restaurant located in beautiful Nakameguro Tokyo area. Still in Tokyo, i passed thru a shop of vintage accessories and there was cats sneaking through items..

There is always a way to reshape the use of a surface or a medium. In nature nothing is final, elements can be joined to give life to something unexpected.

The alchemy is the same, patience, a film negative, liquid photo emulsion and a surface to impress your image. Spread the photo emulsion to make a surface photosensitive take you to a whole another journey, when the emulsion is at the right temperature its like yogurt and as you can imagine you must spread it on the surface with a brush a darkroom. The amount of the emusion on the surface is not equally distributed, and the final result change on the amount of the liquid that is in the brushstrokes. The fact that brush strokes will appear on the picture makes this close-by a painting. The depth of greytones and the chalky white make this beyond the act of photography. I took that photo on the rooftop of a building in Brooklyn in a very cold afternoon.

Here’s a little story that must be told..about this L.V stuff that costantly appear on my artworks and personal wardrobe…Few reasons: In the mid 80′s MC’s like Eric B and Rakim, Big Daddyt Kane, Queen Latifah, Biz Markie and rap superstars got their suits custom made by Dapper Dan, located on 125th in Harlem, N.Y.C. Dapper Dan used monograms from european fashion Icons like Louis Vuitton, Gucci and MGM, to make the other face of the Adidas, Nike and Fila tracksuits still popular in the Hip Hoppin’ scenario in those days…True gangster too used to get their suits customized by Dapper Dan, Of cousrse that arrived to my eyes…I got bootlegged LV bags from the market in Florence, to customize my jeans..and I remeber to be proud with partner Dayaki ( DeeMo) to rock one of those caps bought at the world famous Hip Hop shop in London..Fourstar General. DeeMo said..gimme the Gucci one, I ain’t down for the brown and ocra colors.(LV). That remain in me like I still rock my Adidas Superstars and Campus, my Nike Blazers and a superheavy hoody. I Purchased the bag you see in the post with a stupid excuse to myself…”I need something to carry my Apple Powerbook”, bought that in 1997..people asked if I stole that from my mom. As always, I really didnt gave a damn about comments, and for sure I carried my set of spraycans in that bag, part of the life of my “nomadizm”. L.V are long lasting, tough, and waterproof, good to abuse it and I let those bags worth every single penny I paid for, why buy stuff if you can’t abuse it? Lately I customize the surface of the bags with some graphics, I did it with my backpacks when I was a kid, I’m doin’ it now with those. Louis Vuitton made his works for globetrotters. Back in the days travel wasn’t as smooth as nowdays so theyr accessories comes from durable stuff, some of the famous pieces from back in the days are part of the history archives of Louis Vuitton, most of those have stickers and labesl showing the path of the traveller, and really look pieces of lifestyle. I will own one of those huge trunks with a wardrobe inside…for sure I will customize that shit too, rollin’ with that with my fly sneakers on!

This was back in the early 2000, I approached the oils techniques, my first experience with those mediums, i have to say that the depth and the richness of those paint its great and its flexibility is endless. Paint with oil its a “time” experience, rush and deadlines are not friend of Arts in general but, surley enemy of this technique.
